Arsenal 'chasing Valencia left-back Jose Gaya'

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly lining up a move for 21-year-old Valencia left-back Jose Gaya as a replacement for Nacho Monreal.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has reportedly set his sights on Valencia full-back Jose Gaya as a long-term replacement for Nacho Monreal.

Monreal, 31, is the first-choice left-back at the Emirates Stadium at the moment, while Kieran Gibbs is yet to be offered a new deal by the club despite having just 18 months remaining on his current contract.

Wenger has instead chosen to look elsewhere, according to The Mirror, with Gaya top of his wanted list for the position.

The 21-year-old has made 10 league starts for Valencia this season and is regarded as one of the brightest young full-backs in Europe.

Any deal is likely to take place next summer rather than January, however, with Valencia reluctant to sell as they bid to avoid relegation from La Liga.
