TALKING POINT Arsenal demonstrated why they deserve third place, but no more. For much of the game they were profligate and wasteful, failing to break down the sturdy West Ham defence, but towards the end of the match exploited gaps with their technical ability around the box. It is clear why they sometimes fail against mediocre sides, and often have embarrassing results, but it is equally clear why they are capable of beating any side in the league.
