Lauren. Arsenal's best ever right-back?
Morning all. Back in the summer of 2000, Arsene Wenger signed Laureano Bisan Etamé-Mayer for just over £7 million. Two years later, ‘Lauren' had been key to our double winning season. Replacing Lee Dixon was a tough task but he did it and very well, in fact many Arsenal fans I know believe he was one of the best right-backs the club has ever had, a sentiment shared by Arsene Wenger. Lauren wasn't a right-back when he arrived and the manager had his work cut out trying to convince him that he could be: He was, for me, one of the best full backs in the world, not only because of his quality but he was a character, a real character.
