Mertesacker: Arsenal could not recover from Bayern Munich's early goal
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insists his side can still qualify for the knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League. Arsenal captain Per Mertesacker said Bayern Munich's early goal was key as the Gunners slumped to a 5-1 defeat at the Allianz Arena. Robert Lewandowski put Bayern in front after only 10 minutes of the Champions League clash, and the Bundesliga side went on to score two more goals before the break. It was a different story to a fortnight ago, when Arsenal inflicted upon Bayern their first defeat of the season with a surprise 2-0 win at Emirates Stadium..
