Our tribute to Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh
It was with deep regret that we have learnt today of the death of His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Prince Philip had a long association with the club. His first visit to Highbury in an official capacity came in October 1952, just eight months after Queen Elizabeth II ascended the throne. Fittingly, that visit was to support a charity fixture between the Gunners and Hibernian and he subsequently supported a number of other charitable initiatives at the club, including visiting the community department to learn about the ‘Double Club’ in 2000.
